Study Abroad/ERASMUS Programme

The School of Business is excited to be able to offer you the fantastic opportunity to participate in a Placement Year. An industrial placement is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a working environment. A ‘Year in Industry’ involves you undertaking a year of full-time work in a suitable internship between Year 2 and Year 3.
The programme will:
- Help develop key employability skills that graduate employers seek.
- Help increase your understanding of the application of your academic discipline.
- Help ensure your CV and applications stand out.
- On successful completion of your studies your placement year will be reflected in your degree

Placements for this year have included: Civil Service Analytical placements with NHS Pensions, Placement with Accounts/Payroll at General Electric and many more.

Alongside your academic work we recognise that it is also important you gain experience, develop your skills and know how to tell your story to prospective employers. The School of Business has dedicated careers support staff who work closely with the University’s award winning Career Development Service to make sure you get support to achieve your aspirations.
We have a high success rate in the graduate employment market, with students going on to senior positions in industry, accountancy, finance, education, research, marketing, government service and the local and national media.
Students who undertake our BA and BSc degree in Financial Economics (providing you choose Investment Management as an option) or undertake our BA and BSc in Banking and Finance will be offered the special opportunity to study the syllabus for the Claritas Investment certificate which has just been launched by the Chartered Financial Analysis Institute. Leicester is one of a very few universities where you can study for the Claritas Investment Certificate, a qualification highly valued by employers
ACA CIMA, and ACCA Accreditations - Students choosing to study BA/BSc Economics and Accounting can apply for exemptions from professional exams (subject to satisfactory completion of certain modules) for ACA, ACCA, and CIMA..
