Who are we?
Henry Maynard Training E17 is a newly accredited provider of Initial Teacher Education. As a school, we have successfully been involved in leading teacher training for more than 10 years. We pride ourselves on a bespoke training programme, tailored to meet your individual needs and expertise, with support and encouragement every step of the way.
Why pick us?
We constantly find new ways to effectively develop the role and knowledge of our mentors who in turn guide and support our trainees. We have a great track record of producing outstanding teachers, leaders and head teachers of the future.
Train alongside professional mentors
Henry Maynard Primary School and Nursery acts as a 'lead school' in providing the School Direct Salaried Programme and the SCITT Programme, both with QTS and PGCE award. We work in partnership with a large network of schools in and around Waltham Forest to provide our trainees with the very best school-based training. Our PGCE is awarded by UEL, a local London based University. As a Henry Maynard trainee teacher, you will be fully inducted as a student at UEL and have full access to the University campus and library.
Learn, work and achieve together.
We work together to inspire and support each other in a place where everyone is challenged to achieve their full potential, through creativity and community.
‘If you treat people as they are, you will be instrumental in keeping them as they are. If you treat them as they could be, you will help them become what they ought to be’ from the Graduation speech given by Dame Anna Hassan July 2015.
Details about applying for places can be found on the Henry Maynard Primary School website.
Daniel Farmer - Head of PE, School Direct Programme
“I graduated in 2014 after amazing year training with the team at Henry Maynard. Before the course, I studied BA Sports Development and Coaching and then an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. During this period, I worked as a lifeguard. After university, I coached for the council and worked as a cover supervisor in a secondary school, specialising in PE.
The best bit about training with Henry Maynard is that the programme is 'on the job' training. There was no place to hide and I feel it was more beneficial than working weeks at a time in different schools; it allowed you to get the feel of being a real teacher. It's the one and only course that gives you the real sense of being a teacher from day one and it also offers the one to one support other courses don't and is tailored to each individual’s need.
The leadership on the course was great! They were always at the end of an email or phone and also offered solutions to your problems. Overall, everything was organised, clear and supportive throughout.
I will be starting my role as Head of PE at Thorpe Hall Primary School. I am responsible for setting out the curriculum map, guiding people with their planning and taking charge of INSET to support and raise the quality of teaching. I have also been tasked with bringing in the Healthy Schools Programme and organising extracurricular sports and competitions.”
