Erasmus+ Joint Master in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Nanoscience and nanotechnology are at the forefront of modern research. The fast growing economy in this area requires experts who have an outstanding knowledge of nanoscience combined with the skills to apply this knowledge to new products.

A multidisciplinary scientific education is crucial to provide industry and research institutes with top quality experts who have a generic background in the different subdisciplines such as electronics, physics, chemistry, material science, biotechnology, and at the same time be experts in one particular field.

The EMMNano Master

This is what is offered in this master program. You will learn the basics of physics, biology, and chemistry on the nanometer scale, supplemented by courses in technology and engineering. Moreover, in the program you will also be able to specialize in a certain area of nanoscience.

The program exists across Europe

EMMNano is a joint program of 120 ECTS (two years) delivered by some of the most prestigious universities in Europe: KU Leuven (Belgium), Chalmers Tekniska Högskola (Sweden), Université Joseph Fourier Grenoble (France) and Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), in collaboration with 3 leading associated research institutes IMEC in Leuven (Belgium), CEA-LETI in Grenoble (France) and Leibniz Institute for Solid State Materials Research in Dresden (Germany).

Juan Enrique Ramirez Hernandez, Mexico, EMM Nano student 2012-2014

“The EMM Nano program offered me the greatest academic experience in my life; the opportunity to study in 2 European top Universities with excellently qualified professors in a vast number of nanotechnology-related fields. The chance to be able to share 2 years with fellow students from all sorts of academic and cultural backgrounds allowed me not only to increase my technical and scientific knowledge, but also to grow as a person. I was able to broaden my area of expertise by making use of my previously acquired aptitudes, a chance only a highly multi-disciplinary curriculum as this one can give. I encourage everyone interested in pursuing Nanoscience and Nanotechnology as a career to definitely apply for this amazing program.”

EMMNano has added value:

• a truly integrated program with partners’ joint expertise
• a strong link between education and research via associated partners
• a contemporary program at the cutting edge of state-of-the-art research.

EMMNano features the Erasmus + (formerly called Erasmus Mundus) excellence label awarded by the European Commission
