Student Profiles

'I am currently a research officer at Department of
Economics in Ca’Foscari and I will start a new life as
an assistant professor in China soon.
'Undoubtedly, the experience of my PhD in Ca’ Foscari
is one of the most unforgettable and amazing
 memories in my life.
'During our PhD programme, we had excellent
courses to deepen our research skills and we also
have had a lot of chances to practice teaching skills as
a teaching assistant, which will be really useful for our
future career in Academia or elsewhere.
'Moreover, all PhD students are encouraged to attend
conferences and spend some time in other great universities to develop an international network and cooperate with other researchers.
'As an international student, the part I enjoyed the most during my PhD is the warm and friendly atmosphere of our department and the social time that I spent with the other PhD students. Studying and living in Venice is a very special and joyful experience.'

Yao Pan
Graduated with a PhD in Economics, 2018

'As a QEM student, I had the opportunity to be a student of two prestigious universities in Europe: Sorbonne University and Ca´Foscari University of Venice.
'In Ca´Foscari, I appreciated the advice and guidance received from my thesis supervisors that showed their genuine commitment to my work. They were always available to help and to provide me with valuable suggestions thanks to their deep and up-to-date knowledge on the topics at hand.
'Further, I had the opportunity to write my master thesis in collaboration with a second supervisor from another department.  Being that Ca´Foscari is a multidisciplinary university, it is possible to combine the strengths of different areas and approach research using other perspectives to enrich our work.
'I am currently working for a multinational company, which offers investment decision tools to institutional clients as part of the Analytical Quality Assurance team, a job I started after finishing the QEM master. Next year, I will start a PhD program in Economics in a top university in the United States, thanks to the encouragement and support of various QEM professors I worked with both throughout the program and during the whole application process.'
